Building a startup is hard enough. Building your product shouldn’t be.

Over the years, I’ve counseled hundreds of entrepreneurs who were either struggling to build their minimally-viable-product, or having difficulties with their developers. When you’re an early stage startup, you’re trying to make most of every dollar spent. But hiring inexperienced local coders or offshore talent requires experienced technical oversight to ensure a good result. The dollars you save are useless if you become buried in technical debt.

There are four ways I can help build or grow your product, avoid expensive mistakes, or recover from problems before it’s too late:

First, please take advantage of my Open Mondays. I’m happy to check in once a month to help in any way I can.

There’s no charge, commitment or upsell during our conversation. It’s 25 minutes dedicated entirely to you.

Second, I’m available to consult “on demand” with you throughout your startup journey. This can be helping you find or evaluate local or offshore developers, building actionable stories in your agile process, coaching you through best practices to ensure your code is secure and always in your control, and making the best choices for deployment.

Third, I am available hourly, weekly, or monthly on a part-time or full-time basis to fill a CTO, VP of Engineering, or Senior Developer role. Typically, this is for startups building an MVP, but I have also worked with established companies and products during transitional periods.

My standard rate is $250/hour. I offer discounts for blocks of hours and daily, weekly, and monthly engagements.

For longer engagements, I am open to a reduced fee+equity.

Finally, if you want to hand it all off to me, I work collaboratively with some excellent offshore developers. In this model, you’ll work directly with me to plan your development needs and then I communicate the needs to my offshore peers and quality-check all the code that they produce. It’s more expensive than DIY, but very cost effective for the quality of development. (Most of my offshore peers hold a MS in engineering.)
